CostcoLeaks: Transition from Mocha Freeze to Cold Brew Mocha

Costco Some Locations
Store Opening: n/a

Below is a leaked Costco correspondence that details the transition from the $1.45 Mocha Freeze to the $2.99 Cold Brew Mocha Freeze. Some Costco food courts had this item as long as 5 months ago, others are just recently adding it to their menu. My source had the following to say about the Cold Brew Mocha Freeze, "they [Costco] don't rely on sugar for the goodness, [but] more on the cold brew flavor, which gets me hard."
Thanks to the anonymous tipster for providing this highly-sensitive internal memo.

  1. I was a big fan of the old mocha/latte freeze. It was the main reason I would travel farther to Costco than my local grocery stores. But the new cold brew mocha freeze tastes terrible. It has a really bad amaretto liquor aftertaste. Not to mention the price increase! Not a fan, I won't shop there very often in the future. Major bummer!

  2. I figured that if they made a dime on the old formula, then they make $1.50 on the new one. I think the switch-over was a deliberate decision to not practically give away a good drink. Someone said that by doubling the price that if their sales are cut in a half, then it's a wash. Obviously that person doesn't know about bottom line and margins. In essence, they just took the Mocha Freeze off the VALUE menu.
